North Lenoir Holds Off South Lenoir in Rivalry Battle, 35-31

DEEP RUN – In a hard-fought rivalry matchup, North Lenoir held off a late push from South Lenoir to secure a 35-31 victory Tuesday night.

South Lenoir came out strong, leading 8-6 after the first quarter, but North Lenoir found its rhythm in the second and third, outscoring the Blue Devils 12-5 and 10-5 to take control. Despite a determined fourth-quarter surge from South Lenoir, where they posted 13 points to North Lenoir’s seven, the Hawks held on to seal the win.

Leading the way for North Lenoir was Cassidee Fraser, who scored a game-high 13 points. She attacked the paint all night and found success with her floater.

“I was feeling good, it was a tiring game,” Fraser said. “I was trying to get into the paint and hit my floater.”

Sieanna Robinson stepped up with eight points and relentless effort on both ends.

“I really just tried my best and put my all on the court every time,” Robinson said.

Tasheena Lynch added six points and emphasized the importance of consistency moving forward as the Hawks prepare for a tough stretch.

“We just gotta keep the same energy as we did this game,” Lynch said. “Keep being legit every game, play hard, no crazy fouls, and keep working on defense.”

For South Lenoir, Tyazhia Midget anchored the team inside with four points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Makenzie Herring led the Blue Devils in scoring with eight points while grabbing six rebounds, and Gracie Tyndall contributed six points and seven boards. Lexi Haddock and Lily Cole each provided key buckets, finishing with six and five points, respectively.

Despite the loss, South Lenoir head coach Zach Pierce was proud of his team’s resilience, particularly in the fourth quarter.

“I think our girls were determined the whole time,” Pierce said. “I’m not disappointed—I definitely wanted to win—but our girls competed.”

With the season winding down, both teams will look to build off their performances as they gear up for their final matchups.
