2025 ECC Girls Conference Tournament Bracket Unveiled: Kinston Secures #2 Seed, North Lenoir and South Lenoir Eye Upsets
The 2025 ECC Girls Conference Tournament bracket was revealed on Saturday, setting the stage for an exciting week of high school hoops. The Kinston Vikings claimed the No. 2 seed, while the North Lenoir Hawks secured the No. 6 seed, and the South Lenoir Blue Devils landed at No. 7.
The tournament begins on Tuesday, following the start of the boys' bracket on Monday. First-round games will be hosted at Kinston High, with the second round taking place at East Duplin on Thursday. The championship game is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. at Kinston High.
No. 2 Kinston Vikings (20-3, 10-2) vs. No. 7 South Lenoir Blue Devils (2-20, 0-12)

The Kinston Vikings secured the No. 2 seed after posting an impressive 10-2 conference record, with both losses coming against top-seeded East Duplin. Now, they’ll face a familiar opponent in the first round: the South Lenoir Blue Devils.
Kinston enters the matchup as the heavy favorite, having defeated South Lenoir twice during the regular season (56-30, 60-31). The Blue Devils, who finished winless in conference play (0-12), will look to shock the Vikings and derail their tournament hopes.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., with Kinston enjoying home-court advantage. The winner will advance to face the victor of Southwest Onslow vs. North Lenoir on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at East Duplin.
No. 6 North Lenoir Hawks (6-17, 2-10) vs. No. 3 Southwest Onslow Stallions

The North Lenoir Hawks enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed after a challenging season in ECC play (2-10). However, this young team is eager to play spoiler and could benefit from its tough schedule as they take on the No. 3 seed, Southwest Onslow.
North Lenoir has fallen to the Stallions twice this season, losing 43-34 and 43-18. They’ll look to flip the script in the tournament opener, with tip-off set for 4 p.m. at Kinston High. If the Hawks pull off the upset, they’ll advance to face the winner of the Kinston-South Lenoir matchup on Thursday at East Duplin.
