2025 ECC Boys Conference Tournament Brackets Revealed
The brackets for the 2025 ECC Boys Conference Tournament were unveiled on Saturday, February 15, setting the stage for an exciting postseason. The Kinston Vikings, riding high off a strong season, have earned the No. 1 seed, while the North Lenoir Hawks secured the No. 3 spot, and the South Lenoir Blue Devils will enter as the No. 7 seed.
The tournament kicks off on Monday, February 17, with first-round games hosted by No. 2 seed Southwest Onslow. The top-seeded Kinston Vikings, securing the No. 1 spot based on their RPI, will receive a first-round bye. The second round follows on Wednesday, February 19, at Kinston High, with the championship game set for Friday, February 21, also at Kinston, tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
No. 1 Kinston Vikings (18-4, 11-1)
The Vikings wrapped up the regular season as co-champions of the conference, sharing the title with Southwest Onslow, as both teams finished 11-1 in league play. However, Kinston clinched the No. 1 seed by the slimmest of margins, edging out the Stallions by just 0.000657 in RPI.
Kinston’s lone conference loss came on the road against Southwest Onslow, a 69-57 defeat. After a dominant win over North Lenoir in their regular-season finale, the Vikings will have extra time to rest and prepare before taking on the winner of Monday’s matchup between Wallace-Rose Hill and James Kenan.
No. 3 North Lenoir Hawks (9-15, 7-5)
The Hawks had a rocky start to the season but rebounded in conference play, finishing 7-5 to secure the No. 3 seed. North Lenoir will face No. 6 seed East Duplin in the tournament’s first game on Monday at 4 p.m. at Southwest Onslow.
The Hawks have dominated East Duplin this season, winning both matchups (77-69, 71-39). North Lenoir has also won five straight meetings against the Panthers and holds a 9-3 all-time record in the rivalry.
No. 7 South Lenoir Blue Devils (6-16, 0-12)
It has been a tough season for the South Lenoir Blue Devils, who enter the tournament winless in conference play (0-12). Despite their struggles, the Blue Devils have shown flashes of promise, including an impressive win over Ashley High and some close battles against league opponents.
South Lenoir faces a tough first-round challenge against No. 2 seed Southwest Onslow on the Stallions’ home court. The Blue Devils’ game is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, where they will look to play spoiler in the tournament.
With postseason play officially underway, the action is set to heat up as teams battle for the ECC title. With top seeds clashing and potential upsets looming, it’s anyone’s game.
