Bethel Christian Academy Trojans 2025 Baseball Preview

After finishing with an impressive 18-4 record last season and making a strong run to the state championship final, the Bethel Christian Academy Trojans are gearing up for another exciting season of high school baseball. Despite falling short in last year’s championship game to Wilmington Christian, the Trojans are looking to build upon their success in 2025 with high expectations and a renewed sense of confidence.

Head coach Kenny Sutton, now in his 18th year of coaching at Bethel Christian, remains focused on the ultimate goal of winning a state title. When asked about his team’s outlook, Sutton said, "We’ve put ourselves in a position to be able to compete for a state championship. I don’t expect any less." With the Trojans returning several key players and making adjustments to their roster, the future looks bright for the program.

Strong Mound Presence

One of the Trojans' biggest strengths last season was their pitching, and this year, they’re poised to be even better. Coach Sutton emphasized the improvement on the mound, saying, "We should be better on the mound. I think we’re going to be a little stronger there." The Trojans will lean heavily on their talented pitching staff, which was a key reason for their dominant 2024 season.

The team’s ace, Jamey Williams, returns after a standout season in which he went 7-1 with a 1.68 ERA and three saves. Williams struck out 82 batters and was a consistent force on the mound. Cooper Williams, another standout pitcher, finished with a 6-1 record and a 3.13 ERA, adding 58 strikeouts. Braden Cash, who posted a 3-2 record with a 2.33 ERA and 39 strikeouts, will also be an important arm for the Trojans this season.

Offensive Power

Offensively, the Trojans are primed to pick up where they left off last season. "I think offensively, we pick up where we were last year," Coach Sutton noted. The Trojans were led by Jamey Williams at the plate, who batted .441 with 30 hits, 29 RBIs, and four doubles. Jason Turnage also provided a big spark, hitting .390, while Cooper Williams added a solid .351 batting average. These returning players will be key to the Trojans’ offensive success in 2025.

Challenging Schedule

Looking to further test his team’s mettle, Coach Sutton has loaded up the Trojans’ schedule with competitive non-conference games. These tough matchups will not only prepare the team for a rigorous playoff run but will also provide a litmus test for how the Trojans stack up against some of the best in the state. "We loaded up our schedule a little bit with some non-conference games that will be very competitive," Sutton said. "We should be right at the top of the eastern half of the state, so when playoff time comes, we will see where it goes."

With Wilmington Christian no longer in their division this year, the Trojans’ path to the state championship is wide open. After losing three players from last season—one to graduation, one to a transfer, and one to homeschooling—Coach Sutton and his squad are ready to face the challenges ahead, confident that they have the depth and talent to succeed.

Looking Ahead

As the Trojans aim to build upon last year's success, all eyes will be on their pitching staff, offensive depth, and how they handle the challenges of their tough non-conference slate. With a mix of returning talent and new faces, the Trojans have the potential to make another deep run in 2025 and compete for a state title.

For Bethel Christian Academy, the 2025 season is all about exceeding expectations and taking the next step toward the ultimate prize—a state championship.

The Trojans will get their season started with two games on the road, first at Jones Senior on March 3, 2025, followed by a matchup at New Life Christian Academy on March 11, 2025. Their first home game will be on Friday, March 14, 2025, when they host Jones Senior at Bethel Christian Academy.
