Greene Central looked to be in control of their matchup against the North Pitt Panthers going into the fourth quarter, but the Panthers found magic at the end of the third as they rode their momentum. To give the Rams their first conference loss of the season.
In front of a packed gym at "The Swamp," North Lenoir continued its impressive season with a decisive three-set sweep over rival South Lenoir, winning 25-16, 25-8, 25-22 in a highly anticipated volleyball matchup. The annual showdown between these Lenoir County teams has become a fixture, and this year, the stakes were high with both teams battling for conference positioning.
The Arendell Parrott Acandemy Patriots hosted the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles at Hodges Field in Kinston on Friday evening. The Patriots started out slow in the game but turned on their jets in the second half for the 64-30 victory.
Greene Central’s dominance on both sides of the ball couldn’t prevent a turnover-laden 20-14 loss to Eastern Wayne on Friday night at Eastern Wayne High School. Despite racking up nearly twice as many total yards as their opponent and controlling possession for much of the game, the Rams’ six turnovers allowed the Warriors to escape with a win in front of their home crowd.
September 9th, 2023, marked a day that forever changed the lives of everyone at North Lenoir High School. The tragic passing of Coach Tony Hill left a lasting impact on the entire community, and his memory continues to inspire those who knew him. One year later, the North Lenoir Hawks find themselves in a similar situation, starting the season 0-3. However, much like last year when they honored Coach Hill with a resounding 58-13 win over East Carteret, the Hawks (0-3) will once again look to rally for a huge win against the Mariners (0-3) at home.
In a match that had fans on their feet, North Lenoir fell to Wallace-Rose Hill 3-2 in a five-set battle on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs, who remain undefeated at 9-0, snapped North Lenoir’s two-game win streak over them, leaving the Hawks with a 5-2 record. The contest saw both teams fighting fiercely, diving for every ball, and pushing each other to the brink, with the final set ending 16-14 in favor of Wallace-Rose Hill.

The Lenoir Community College Lancers hosted the Sandhills Community College Flyers Thursday night in an exciting volleyball match. The Lancers came out on fire and won the first set 25-23 before losing three straight sets 25-14, 25-19 & 25-17.
Greene Central secured a commanding 38-20 victory over Beddingfield, fueled by a dominant defensive performance and three touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Josh Cetnar in his first varsity start.
The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons (3-0) maintained their perfect start to the season with a commanding 49-6 victory over the North Lenoir Hawks (0-3). Despite a promising defensive play by the Hawks, who forced a fumble on C.B. Aycock’s opening possession, they quickly handed the ball back to the Falcons. Aycock capitalized with a four-yard rushing touchdown and never relinquished control of the game.

Greene Central will celebrate its 2024 NCHSAA 2A Baseball State Championship with a ring ceremony during halftime of Friday’s varsity football game against Beddingfield.
The North Lenoir Hawks fell 5-1 to C.B. Aycock in a non-conference match, with Maddox Smith scoring the Hawks' lone goal, as they struggled with consistency and teamwork throughout the game.
Kinston showed significant growth despite a 3-0 loss to South Lenoir, highlighting their potential while South Lenoir extended their win streak to four games.
